Profile of the M.D

In a male dominated industry, Lufuno Sharon Mugwena has excelled beyond expectation. She began her career in Civil Construction with a National Diploma in Civil Engineering from the University of Johannesburg (Technikon Witwatersrand). She was then enlisted into Extended Public Works Programme (EPWP) Learnership programme where she acquired practical training as a learner-contractor. She oversaw projects to the tune ofR 3 million during her training.

As a founding member and executive director of Mbonelaphanda Civils cc, she has displayed impeccable leadership qualities which was highlighted when she became recipient of a 2009 CIDB Women in Construction Excellence Award.

She has an ambitious goal for her company, which has a befitting name (Mbonelaphanda meaning to see ahead in Venda). She plans to increase operations to well over the R 10 million turnover mark within the next five years

Lufuno is goal oriented, organised, highly motivated, and detail-directed problem solver. Her leadership style is exactly what Mbonelaphanda needs going forward.
